Dusty's Service Center

Lewis O. “Dusty” Dewberry, born in 1947, discovered his passion for cars while studying auto mechanics at Ligon High School, where he graduated in 1966. In the 1980s, he opened his own repair shop, which quickly became an anchor for the Fourth Ward community. Dusty and his wife, Barbara, ran the shop as more than a business, they offered food, shelter, and support to neighbors during hard times.

Dusty’s shop closed in March 2017, and two years later the space became home to Sam Jones BBQ. Dewberry passed away in 2020, leaving behind a legacy of skill, generosity, and community care.
